Precious Metals IRAs

Fisher Precious Metals Review

Precious Metals IRAs are a type of Self-Directed IRA where you can invest in precious metals, rather than the traditional stocks and bonds. Fisher Precious Metals can help you save for retirement and diversify your portfolio by setting up a Precious Metals IRA.

Fisher Precious Metals is not an IRA custodian, but they will work with your preferred custodian company to help set up your IRA and make sure everything meets IRS regulations. They recommend that their clients work with New Direction IRA, but they will also work with other custodians if you have a preference.

They have developed a dedicated website for their IRA services. Unlike other companies that offer you a 'free guide' and then inundate you with phone calls, Fisher Precious Metals believes in being honest and upfront and wants to share all the information you'll need to make an informed decision. The IRA website includes helpful information about the benefits of opening a Precious Metals IRA, the steps you need to take to open and fund your account, and the IRA-approved precious metals that you can invest in.

You can also learn more about rolling over an IRA, 401(k) or 403(b) into a new Precious Metals IRA. If you think you're interested in opening an account, the application is available on the website. You can also call the company directly to get started or ask any remaining questions you may have.

Selling Precious Metals

Fisher Precious Metals Review

Fisher Precious Metals will also purchase gold, silver, platinum, and palladium coins you have, whether or not they were purchased from them in the first place. They also offer customer the options to trade their unwanted gold or silver jewelry in for gold, silver, platinum, or palladium coins and bars.

If you would like to sell your precious metals to Fisher Precious Metals, you can call the company to get the process started. They'll provide information on shipping your metals. Once your metals arrive, they will be inspected and tested for authenticity. Then, your payment will be issued via bank wire, direct deposit, or check.

Are There Any Red Flags for Fisher Precious Metals?

Fisher Precious Metals Review

Precious metals are not cheap. When you choose a precious metals investment company to work with, you want to be confident that you made a good choice. One way to feel more confident about your decision is to read reviews from customers who have worked with the company in the past.

Though everyone's experiences can vary, if you notice a pattern in reviews (either positive or negative), it can be quite useful when trying to make a decision. Some of our most trusted review sites to consult include the Better Business Bureau, the Business Consumer Alliance, TrustLink, and Trustpilot.

We looked on these sites to pull ratings to shared, and realized that Fisher Precious Metals only has reviews on the BBB's website. There are no reviews from customers on any of the other sites we checked.

There are only 25 customer reviews listed on the BBB site as well. While each review was a 5-star review, 25 is a very small number of reviews when other companies have hundreds, if not thousands.

A lack of reviews doesn't always mean that a company isn't trustworthy or employs poor business practices. However, given that Fisher Precious Metals has been around since 2007, you would think there would be more reviews from customers.

  • Better Business Bureau: A+ rating; BBB Accredited Business
  • Business Consumer Alliance: Not rated
  • TrustLink: Not rated
  • Trustpilot: Not rated

Is Fisher Precious Metals a Scam?

Fisher Precious Metals Review

So, is Fisher Precious Metals a scam or a legitimate company? Fisher Precious Metals has been in business since 2007. They are a legitimate precious metals dealer.

However, we still would recommend you choosing a different company to give your business to. There are a few things that we don't love about Fisher Precious Metals, which is why we wouldn't advise working with them.

First, there are not many customer reviews for Fisher Precious Metals. Some of the most trusted sites, such as Trustpilot, TrustLink, and the Business Consumer Alliance, have no reviews on their site. The BBB does list some positive customer reviews, but there are only 25. This is not a very large sample size and may not tell the full story.

Another thing that we don't like about Fisher Precious Metals is their pricing and ordering. The website is not updated with current pricing for each coin or bar. Rather, they have a pricing sheet that lists information about how much more each coin or bar costs than the spot price. This can be very confusing to determine pricing and makes a lot more work for yourself than you'll need to do with other dealers.

You also can't place an order directly through the website. You'll have to figure out what you want, and then call the company.

First time orders placed with Fisher Precious Metals must be at least $5,000. This is a high minimum compared to many other sites that have no minimum order amount. This doesn't make them a friendly option for individuals looking to just get their feet wet with investing in precious metals and only choose a few pieces.

As you can see, there are few things we don't love about Fisher Precious Metals. For these reasons, we'd recommend taking your business to another one of the precious metals investment companies with a more solid reputation and better service.

  • You have to calculate the cost of each item using the spot price and the pricing guide.

Final Verdict

Fisher Precious Metals looks like a good company to work with at first glance. However, once you take a closer look at their website, pricing, and ordering information, it doesn't look so appealing. And, once you realize that there are not many reviews from past customers about the company, it should be pretty clear that Fisher Precious Metals is probably not the right company for you. We'd recommend looking for a better investment company to purchase gold, silver, or other precious metals from.

Although we do think that Fisher Precious Metals is a decent company, we believe that there are better companies out there to make your investment with.
