Precious metals have seen a huge increase in demand over the past two years. With the economy going through turbulent times, people want more financial security. Gold and silver have been traded for thousands of years without losing their value, so people trust them more.

But this isn't the only company that offers precious metals IRA help. In fact, gold IRAs are a common and competitive niche. So does this company actually stand up to the competition? What do they offer, and what can you expect?

About Cornerstone Bullion

Cornerstone Bullion Review

Cornerstone Bullion was first established in 2009 and has a headquarters in Colorado. When they offer precious metals IRA services, they have four custodians that they work with most commonly:

  • GoldStar Trust
  • New Direction IRA
  • Kingdom Trust
  • Entrust Group

Each of these custodians is licensed to maintain precious metals IRAs, and they all have good market reputations. But different custodians have different fee setups. You'll need to compare the different fee schedules to decide which is the best for your investment needs.

There are also three different depositories to choose from. You will need to pick a custodian that works with your preferred depository. As with custodians, different depositories have different storage fees. Some have flat fees, while others charge a small percentage of your holdings.

You can choose from the Dakota Depository, Idaho Armored Vaults, or the Delaware Depository. That means that you have three different regions of the US to pick from. If you want to store your metals closer to home, and you live in one of the regions of choice, you might appreciate this.

Since the company specializes in IRAs, most of their products are precious metals that meet the IRS regulations for purity. You can store approved coins and bullion in your vault. The company does not provide prices on their website.

The lack of pricing might be because the price of precious metals changes every day. But that doesn't stop the competition. Some competitors have algorithms that automatically adjust the prices of their inventory so people always know. That makes it a lot easier to comparison shop and put together an order.

Products and Services

Cornerstone Bullion Review

Unlike many full service precious metals companies, this company focuses on a narrow niche. They aim to help their clients set up retirement accounts and fund them with precious metals. As such, they chiefly sell bars and coins that have been approved for storage in a self-directed IRA by IRS regulations.

The company streamlines the process of setting up your IRA and funding it. There are a lot of papers to sign and steps to follow, and the process can quickly become overwhelming. Like other gold IRA companies, Cornerstone Bullion simplifies that process to make it more accessible to the public.

They also make an effort to teach their customers about the precious metals market. Their website has a "Resources" page that gives you access to blogs, articles, FAQs, and a free guide to precious metals investment.

Management

Cornerstone Bullion Review

The founder of the company is Chad Roach. Prior to opening his own firm, he worked with a variety of alternative investments. Not only is he familiar with the precious metals market, but he's also worked with real estate and tangible assets.

Chad Roach is both the founder and current owner of the company.

Company Reviews

Cornerstone Bullion Review

There are some good and bad things about the company reviews.

Actually, the good and the bad are the same: It's very difficult to find consumer reviews.

There are testimonials on the company website. But these can easily be made up. It's easier to find objective information about people's experiences through third parties, and there simply aren't third party reviews of this company.

With that said, though, there are no huge red flags. In fact, the company maintains excellent ratings with the Better Business Bureau and the Business Consumer Alliance. The BBB gives them a top rating of A+, and the BCA gives them a perfect score of AAA.

There have not been any complaints filed with the BBB. But there haven't been any general customer reviews written, either. The same is true of the BCA.

Trustlink has three reviews available, all of which have five stars. But all of them were written in 2014. Each person stated that they had a good experience, but a lot might have changed in the past seven years. There's no telling what the company is like now without more recent information.

The company's Yelp page is unclaimed, meaning that it might have been automatically generated. According to the schedule posted there, the office is open during normal business hours on weekdays. There is one five star Yelp review, but no other information.

The five star review is from 2019, which is better than the Trustlink reviews. It did also have glowing things to say about the customer service rep the person worked with.

Is Cornerstone Bullion a Scam?

Cornerstone Bullion Review

Cornerstone Bullion is not a scam. The company operates from a legitimate address, and its founder is easily discovered through the website. In addition, the company maintains an A+ with the Better Business Bureau and high markings with the Business Consumer Alliance.

All of these things indicate that the company is a legitimate dealer of precious metals. It's also helpful that they frequently partner with a number of different custodians and depositories. The staff members are knowledgeable about the fees and expectations you might have regarding these things.

This company doesn't have very many online reviews, though. Though there are several testimonials published on the official website, they lack BBB or BCA reviews. On the one hand, that means there are no customer complaints. On the other hand, you can't find out what experiences people have previously had.

With the advent of the internet, information about companies has become more easily accessible than ever. It's odd for a company to have so few reviews from past customers. That doesn't mean that they're a scam, or even that they're mismanaged. But you can make more confident purchases if you go with a company that has tons of positive reviews.

Pros & Cons of Cornerstone Bullion

Pros:

  • Company specializing in gold IRAs.
  • Exclusively sells IRA-approved precious metals, making selection easy.
  • A+ rating with the BBB and AAA rating with the BCA.

Cons:

  • Impossible to find reliable third party customer reviews or complaints.
  • Not the best option for people who want to invest outside of an IRA.

Final Thoughts

Cornerstone Bullion is a fairly standard company offering gold IRA services. They have all the hallmarks of a legitimate business, but is that enough?

We're not sure about that. The company doesn't have enough online reviews to determine what customers do or don't like. You can't find information about whether previous clients were satisfied with their experiences.

That doesn't necessarily mean that this is a bad company. But with so little information, it's difficult to make a recommendation. It's a lot easier to recommend companies with hundreds or thousands of positive reviews. At least with them, you know exactly what to expect going in.

Cornerstone Bullion doesn't offer anything that you can't find with another high quality IRA dealer. There's no guarantee that you'll have a negative experience with them, but why choose an untested dealer when you could have a more reputable one?

Although we do think that Cornerstone Bullion could be a solid company, we believe that there are better companies out there to make your investment with.
