Selling Scrap Precious Metals

AJPM Review

In addition to selling gold, silver, and platinum bullion to AJPM, you may also be able to sell your scrap gold or silver to the company. Scrap precious metals, which may include broken jewelry, dental items, and other industrial products, can be melted down and used to make new items.

AJPM will buy these otherwise useless items from you. Then, you can use the money to purchase coins or bars or save it for some other use.

The calculator includes sections for each type of metal (10-karat gold, 14-karat gold, 18-karat gold, 22-karat gold, dental gold, and .925 silver). Simply enter the number of grams of each precious metal type you have to sell, and the calculator will provide you with a value.

Are There Any Red Flags for AJPM?

AJPM Review

In preparing for this article, we looked up reviews for AJPM on some highly-trusted online review sites including the Business Consumer Alliance, Better Business Bureau, Trustpilot, and TrustLink. We always find that looking up what other customer share about their experiences with a company can be extremely beneficial in learning more about how the company operates and treats its customers.

As you can see below, reviews of AJPM are limited on these sites we checked. You can always search and see if there are results on other review sites, but with such limited reviews, it is hard to get a full picture of how AJPM conducts business and interacts with its customers.

Very few reviews do not always equal poor products or services. However, there are lots of other precious metals investment companies that are much more highly reviewed by hundreds or thousands of past customers. With such a large number of reviews, you can feel more confident about your decision to work with a company.

Is AJPM a Scam?

AJPM Review

AJPM is a legitimate company; it is not a scam. They have been in business since 1991 when Rodney and Vicki Scott first started the company. AJPM has three physical locations and also sells precious metals over the phone.

The question of whether you want to work with AJPM is not the same as whether the company is a scam. While AJPM appears to be a legitimate company, we still wouldn't advise you to work with them for a few different reasons.

One of the biggest reasons we'd suggest looking elsewhere is that reviews for AJPM are so limited. Despite being in business for 30 years, there are hardly any reviews on some of the most trusted online review sites. As we shared above, this doesn't necessarily mean that AJPM doesn't offer excellent products and services, but you really can't tell without hearing what other customers have to say.

Another thing we don't love about AJPM is their ordering process. With many other companies, you can add products directly to an online cart and check yourself out online. To order through AJPM you need to call the company and speak with a representative.

It also looks like you must pay with a personal check, cashiers check, money order, or wire transfer (for orders over $15,000). AJPM does not accept credit cards, debit cards, or PayPal, as many other precious metals investment companies do.

The selection of gold and silver coins offered by AJPM is also not as extensive as what you'll find with some other companies. If you're looking to hold a large number of different coins and bars in your portfolio, you're probably better choosing a different company.

  • AJPM was founded by Rodney and Vicki Scott in 1991.
  • The company has three physical storefront locations in the Portland, Oregon area and also accepts orders over the phone.
  • You can purchase gold, silver, and platinum bullion from AJPM.
  • They also offer pre-1933 PCGS- and NGC-certified gold coins.
  • You can use precious metals you already own as collateral for a loan through AJPM.

Pros:

  • AJPM has 30 years of experience.
  • They offer a nice selection of gold, silver, and platinum bullion.
  • You can receive a loan using precious metals as collateral.

Cons:

  • There are not very many reviews available for AJPM online.
  • You must call to place an order; you can't order directly through the website.
  • Credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal are not acceptable forms of payment.
  • Their selection of gold and silver coins and bars is not very extensive.

Final Verdict

All-in-all, we would not recommend working with AJPM. We think there are many better options out there if you're looking to invest in precious metals. We don't like that must call to order through AJPM and that they don't accept credit cards, debit cards, or PayPal. We also found that their selection of coins and bars isn't that large. We'd recommend continuing your search for a better precious metals investment company that is more highly reviewed and makes it easier to order gold and silver.

Although we do think that AJPM is a somewhat decent company, we believe that there are better companies out there to make your investment with.
